Woman dies in crash

POLICE have appealed for witnesses after a woman died in a road accident in North Ayrshire.

The woman, 37, was driving a grey Seat Ibiza which collided with a bronze Renault Grand Scenic travelling in the opposite direction on the A736 at Burnhouse at 6.10pm on Saturday.

The woman died at the scene and the 57-year-old male driver of the Renault was taken to hospital in Glasgow with leg injuries, where he was today said to be in a stable condition.
