University Jonathan Swift event
DUNDEE University is to host an event celebrating the 350th anniversary of Gulliver’s Travels author Jonathan Swift.
The I maginarium, an expo of thought experiments inspired by Swift’s most famous book, takes place at the university’s Dalhousie Building on Wednesday November 22.
Visitors will be able to enjoy talks, performances and family activities, including the use of a mini green-screen film studio.
The gathering has been inspired by t he mockacademy i n Gulliver’s Travels and is one of the flagship events i n t he Jonathan Swift at 350: Lost and Found programme.
The celebration of Swift’s life and work forms part of Being Human 2017, a national festival of the humanities being held from November 17-25.
Organiser Dr Daniel Cook, senior lecturer in English at the university, said the programme will not only celebrate Swift but would also correct several misconceptions about one of the world’s best-known but most misunderstood books.
