Tommy is the best Saints boss

TOMMY Wright has been announced as St Johnstone’s most successful post-Second World War top division team boss as regards league games.

He has the best top league win percentage, most points per game, and is the only Saints manager with a positive goal difference.

So far, Tommy’s top division league record stands at 68 victories, 35 draws and 62 losses.

Second in the list is Tommy’s predecesso­r Steve Lomas, then i t ’s W i l l i e O r m o n d , Pa u l Sturrock, Derek McInnes, Sandy Clark, Alex Totten, Bobby Brown, John McClelland and Jackie Stewart.

Meanwhile, Saints U/20s will face St Mirren U/20s at Kelty’s Central Park tomorrow (2pm).

The game is being played there due to McDiarmid Park being used for the ScotlandUk­raine U/21 fixture being held there that night.

On Wednesday night, the Tranmere Rovers-Peterborou­gh FA Cup replay will be of interest to Saints supporters.

Three former members of the McDiarmid Park squad, Gwion Edwards, Marcus Maddison and Michael Doughty are set to line up for Peterborou­gh.
