Andrew reaches club milestone

ANDREW Steeves reached the impressive milestone recently of playing his 100th game for Montrose.

The 22-year-old arrived at Links Park in March 2015, initially on loan from Forfar Athletic before he signed on permanentl­y.

The Perth lad, a former St Johnstone player, has given a string of solid, reliable performanc­es, both at left-back and centre-half, to earn him respect from both fans and management alike. He is committed to Montrose until the summer of 2019.

Presenting Andrew with his trophy, Gable Endies chairman John Crawford said: “I would like to congratula­te Andrew on reaching his 100th appearance.

“He is a real profession­al, who sets a great example around the club, and I hope he has many more games ahead in a Montrose shirt.”

Andrew is set to be part of t he Montrose squad which faces QOS at home in the Scottish Cup on Saturday.

Whether Terry Masson makes it remains to be seen.

The influentia­l midfield man was taken off injured in the home 1-1 divide against Annan Athletic and is a doubt.

Craig Johnston was also replaced after receiving a knock to the ribs but he should be OK.

Speaking about the game, Montrose manager Stewart Petrie said: “It’s a great tie for the club.

“We are the underdogs but will take the game to Queens and, hopefully, we’ll get to the next round.”
