Plans lodged for new ice cream parlour

-

PLANS have been lodged to transform a former city office into an ice cream parlour.

Council bosses are being asked to approve the proposals for the ground floor property at 169 Blackness Road.

The building was last used by AKG Property Group and aims to serve ice cream, coffees, milkshakes and hot desserts if given the go-ahead.

Peter Inglis Architects was instructed to make the application on behalf of its client, Mr S Sakur.

If approved, the cafe would be open from mid-morning until 10pm.

A report presented to council planning bosses stated: “This application seeks a change of use from offices to a dessert cafe/parlour.

“The property is located on the ground floor of 169 Blackness Road, Dundee.

“Blackness Road is an important link to the city centre from the residential West End of Dundee. It is wellserved by bus routes.”

The report added: “The menu would include hot desserts such as apple crumble, waffles, crepes, heated cakes, cookies, cheesecakes and ice cream.

“Coffees, teas, milkshakes and smoothies would also be served.

“The cooking equipment would include a waffle maker, crepe pan, blenders and an oven.

“There would be no requirement for high-level ventilation extraction.”
