Zander back on familiar ground

-

GOALKEEPER Zander Clark was at Celtic, Rangers and Hamilton before he signed on for St Johnstone nine years ago.

The 25-year-old will be in goal for Saints on Saturday when they go to Hamilton looking for three points that could get them back into the top six.

The Perth men have been in t he t op half of t he Ladbrokes Premiership for the vast majority of this season but slipped down to seventh after losing 2-1 at home to Kilmarnock last Saturday.

As he looked ahead to the New Douglas Park encounter, Zander said: “There are still a few players left at Hamilton from my time there, so it will be good to get a catch up.

“However, my main focus is helping Saints get three points. Giving away sloppy goals let us down against Kilmarnock and we are aiming to eradicate the errors.

“Last Saturday has now gone and I’ m l ooking forward to the Hamilton game.

“It will be tough. They have been doing well lately but we have the ability to go there and get a victory and that is what we are attempting to do.”

Liam Gordon came into central defence and did well against Kilmarnock and Zander was impressed with t h e y o u n g s t e r ’s showing.

“I knew Liam would do well — and he did. He is a good young talent,” Zander added.

The keeper has been jousting with Alan Mannus for the top-team spot.

Zander was in goal right at the start but was hurt in a pre-season home win over Sunderland and Alan got back in.

However, recently Zander returned. “I’m happy with my form this season and it’s good to be back in,” he concluded.
