Utd looking to add more physicality

DUNDEE United boss Csaba Laszlo is working to boost his striking options and expects a busy January at the club.

The Tangerines boss says he is looking to improve his options in four positions in the next month with a “physical” forward top of his shopping list.

Csaba will welcome Burnley striker Jamie Thomas on trial at the club next week and says there will definitely be changes in his first transfer window at the club.

He said: “We have at the moment four positions in my mind — not because we set up badly but because of competition and injury problems.

“Everybody is looking for a striker because a striker can score goals but only if the team work for him and deliver the balls needed.

“We have James Keatings, Scott McDonald and Patrick N’Koyi.

“Patrick is the only one who is a bit more physical, so for this reason I am not looking for a small striker because we have enough.

“We are looking for somebody different because tactically it is important to have this.”

Getting an out-and-out goalscorer, though, isn’t absolutely essential for the United gaffer who wants goals from every part of the pitch from his side.

“I think we have here also at the moment two or three guys who can score goals,” he added.

“We don’t have a main goalscorer but I try to build the team up so that from every position we are dangerous.

“We don’t have a typical goalscorer — we have Scott McDonald who is very talented and very experienced, even from midfield Willo Flood has scored, Jamie Robson from the left side has scored, Billy King, Scott Fraser have scored, and this is dangerous for the opponent because they don’t just have to concentrate on one.

“In my game, even in training, I want it to be possible for everybody to score goals.

“SometimesyouneedaLewandowski for example who can score from anywhere but at the moment we don’t have this kind of player, maybe one time we will find one.
