Dad deserves MSP meeting
MARIE Low’s dad Albert is never going to get his daughter back (see page 9).
Sadly, she was taken away from him and other loved ones when she was fatally stabbed by Siobhan Russell in a street in Douglas in 2016.
But the least Mr Low deserves is the chance to discuss his concerns over Russell’s five-and-a-half-year sentence with the policy-makers who have some influence over how long a person gets in jail for a certain type of crime.
Russell’s sentence may have been shorter due to the jury finding her guilty of a charge of culpable homicide, rather than murder, but no matter what the legal term, the fact remains that a much-loved mum died as a result of another person’s actions.
It’s important that the justice secretary listens to Mr Low’s comments and seriously considers how to act upon them.
