Bankies reach Tri­dent semis

THE DSMFL Tri­dent Tro­phies Sec­ond Divi­sion Cup has one semi-fi­nal­ist con­firmed.

Bank St Ath­letic top Group A af­ter Boars Rock were un­able to field a team.

This was de­spite the Bankies hav­ing brought the game for­ward to ac­com­mo­date a free week re­quest from Boars Rock.

Fife This­tle B need a draw this week­end against Sid­law Al­bion to guar­an­tee they will also fea­ture in the semi-fi­nals while Group B is un­likely to be de­cided for an­other few weeks as three sets of fix­tures re­main to be played.

THE draw for the Memo­rial Cup will take place at Soc­cer­world to­mor­row at 6pm.

Thirty-two clubs en­ter a knock­out competition with the win­ners of tie one go­ing into the knock­out stages of the Shaun Kelly Memo­rial Cup.

The l os­ers will find them­selves in the Con­so­la­tion Cup in mem­ory of Ge­orge McArthur.

THE league has also al­ready re­ceived four ap­pli­ca­tions for mem­ber­ship for sea­son 2018-19 and will take fur­ther ap­pli­ca­tions up to the end of Fe­bru­ary.

The DSMFL pays the first year of new clubs’ SAFA mem­ber­ship which is £70 but ex­pected to rise to £105 at this year’s SAFA AGM.

There are no league en­try fees for any club in the DSMFL and, with games be­ing played at ei­ther 10am or 10.30am (bar Scot­tish and North of Tay Cup fix­tures), most guys in­volved are able to be home, at work or off to the se­nior games by 12.30 which has proven a ma­jor in­cen­tive for play­ers to join the league.

A FUR­THER mile­stone for the DSMFL is a planned league se­lect game on April 1 (1pm) at North End Park against the King­dom of Fife league se­lect.

This will be the first ever league se­lect game.

The se­lect man­age­ment team of Dale Kelly, Alex Ross and Daniel Grossi will take in games and or­gan­ise tri­als for se­lected play­ers.
