Saints changes for ’Well fixture

-

DESPITE being happy with his team’s showing during their 1-0 away Ladbrokes Premiership defeat against Hearts, St Johnstone team boss Tommy Wright is likely to show changes for tonight’s l eague trip to Motherwell.

With Saints playing three games i n seven days — Hearts are met again at Tynecastle this Saturday in the Scottish Cup — Tommy is thinking of freshening up his side tonight.

After being sent off against the Edinburgh side o n S a t u r d a y, D a v i d Wotherspoon is banned.

Zander Clark and Aaron Comrie have recovered from knocks and are i n tonight’s squad.

Brian Easton is still on the long-term injured list and David McMillan is set to be out for another 10 days.

George Williams, signed on loan from Fulham, is still out with an ankle injury but is set to join in training later in the week.

As he l ooked towards tonight’s encounter,Tommy said: “We have t o t ake encouragement from our display against Hearts.

“We are disappointed we lost the game but must take the positives from t he fixture.

“Their goalie, Jon McLaughlin, was Man of the Match. He pulled off some great saves and Chris Kane hit the bar.”

St Johnstone have a decent away record, having won at Rangers, Hamilton, Hibs and Kilmarnock as well as drawn at Celtic, and they are keen to keep that going this evening.

Having ousted Dundee United and Rangers from the SFA Youth Cup, Saints were unable to beat Celtic.

They l ost 3-0 t o t he Hoops at Lennoxtown yesterday.

As has been the case in most U/20 fixtures this season, the Perth men fielded a very young U/20 team.
