Experience can be a vital factor

-

STEVEN Anderson and Murray Davidson have both played 239 times for St Johnstone in Scotland’s top league.

And all of that experience will be needed when the Perth men take on Celtic at Parkhead on Sunday.

Anderson is set to be at the heart of the Perth club’s defence and Davidson in the middle of the park.

The McDiarmid Park side have won twice recently against Celtic at Parkhead, 1-0 on both occasions through goals by Dave Mackay and Danny Swanson.

Saints may have taken a point in a 1-1 draw in their previous league visit to Parkhead and won away from home this season at the likes of Rangers, Hibs, Kilmarnock and Hamilton but their recent form, home and away, has been poor.

They go into Sunday’s game minus the injured Stefan Scougall, Callum Hendry and David McMillan.

Brian Easton is a doubt but Liam Craig should be OK after being out with a hamstring injury.

H ow ev e r, G e o rg e Williams may make his Saints debut against the Hoops.

The Welsh international winger was signed on loan from Fulham in the January transfer window but an ankle knock sustained while playing for Fulham’s U/23 side has delayed his debut.

H e ’s n o w O K and certainly keen to get going in a Saints jersey, stating: “I’m delighted t o have signed on l oan with St Johnstone for the rest of the season and can’t wait to get started in this part of my career.”

Meanwhile, Graham Cummins, who left Saints in the January transfer window f or Cork City, netted the fourth of Cork’s four goals as they beat Dundalk 4-2 away in the President’s Cup.
