Lorraine backs cancer campaign

-

DUNDEE TV personality Lorraine Kelly is urging locals to support Ovarian Cancer Awareness month.

Women’s cancer research charity The Eve Appeal is running a campaign called Make Time for Tea during March.

The campaign aims to encourage people to raise awareness of ovarian cancer, while holding a range of fundraising events such as cake sales.

The Eve Appeal was set up to save women’s lives by raising funds for and awareness of all five gynaecological cancers — womb, ovarian, cervical, vulval and vaginal.

Lorraine is the campaign ambassador and has urged locals to get involved.

She said: “About 7,400 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer every year in the UK. That is 20 women every day.

“Sadly, of those diagnosed, 11 will die every day.

“These statistics are shocking and need to be changed.

“That is why I’ve decided to support women’s cancer charity The Eve Appeal and its Make Time for Tea campaign.”

Lorraine added: “As the ambassador for t his year’s campaign, I’m encouraging everyone to Make Time for Tea.

“Host your own tea party or bake sale to support this worthwhile cause.

“It’s a perfect and fun opportunity to gather together with friends, family or colleagues.”
