Dundee police officer Eamonn Colgan, 33, told the Tele that he had seen footage which confirmed his brother’s last-known whereabouts.

Liam vanished on February 10 while on a stag weekend in Hamburg that he had organised for Eamonn.

Eamonn, whose dad is from Dundee, said: “This is the first definite sighting of Liam.

“I saw it for myself so I am 100% happy to say it is the first positive sighting of him since he disappeared.

“It was good to see it and it gives us some hope.”

Eamonn revealed that the CCTV footage was captured at 2.30am, just over an hour after he last saw Liam.

He added: “I know it was a long time ago now but it does give us something to go forward with.”

He said the footage was taken near a railway station and shows Liam walking into what is known as the Portuguese quarter of the city.

“I travelled to that area and saw the CCTV footage,” Eamonn said.

“Liam does appear to be confused and it looks like he was trying to get into a building where there were lights on.

“We are thinking he may have been trying to get help from people in the building.”

Eamonn said he was now going to visit pubs and restaurants in the area to ask if anyone had seen Liam.

Following the recovery of a body from the River Elbe in Hamburg on Sunday, Eamonn said he had “no reason to believe” that it was his brother.

“We are fairly sure it’s not him and are still concentrating all our efforts on finding Liam,” he added.

Eamonn said he planned to stay in Germany for the next few days and that family members were travelling to Hamburg in rotation to make sure someone was always there.

“We have to stay hopeful and positive,” he said.

“We will keep searching until we find him. What else can we do just now?”

Eamonn and his fiancée Susan Dolan, 33, from Carnoustie, were due to be married on March 2 but the wedding has been postponed indefinitely until Liam is found.

“We can’t even think about holding it just now,” Eamonn said.

“Our priority is finding Liam.”

THE search for Liam Colgan has moved to Hamburg’s Portuguese quarter after the missing 29-year-old was positively identified on CCTV.
