McCann delight at Dee response
DUNDEE boss Neil McCann praised his side for their response to l ast week’s setback at Kilmarnock by roaring to victory at Firhill.
On the back of probably their worst result of the season, after being 2-1 up against 10 men at Rugby Park, the Dark Blues looked to be up against it once more as they trailed 1-0 at Partick on Saturday.
That changed in the final six minutes of the contest, however, as Simon Murray stepped up with a timely double.
And Neil was happy to see his side dominate the second half at the weekend.
He said: “I’m so delighted for the boys because, after lastTuesday night, Saturday was a much-needed good feeling.
“I had words with them at half-time because I felt the first half was a reflection of last Tuesday night’s game where they lost their discipline and professionalism to stay in a shape.
“I felt on Saturday they were probably overcompensating on that and our midfield were t oo attached to our defence, so Partick were building.
“Woods and Osman were picking up second balls and getting joy down our right side, so I had to adjust that and say trust t he defence to leave a wee bit of space there.
“I pushed Mark O’Hara and Paul McGowan on a little bit and we stopped them.
“They always looked a threat with their pace up top but I thought we dominated the second half.”
