‘It’s left a huge void in our lives’
THE family of a man killed in a Dundee street have hit out after his attacker launched a bid to have his sentence quashed.
Arran Fender, 31, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for the culpable homicide of Gary McMillan, 44, in May 2017.
Fender stabbed Mr McMillan during the incident at the junction of Lawton Road and Lawton Terrace.
The Tele revealed yesterday he had launched an appeal against his prison sentence.
A spokeswoman for Mr McMillan’s family said today: “He took Gary’s life with such violence, brutality — a horrific heinous crime. A jury found him guilty and Judge Lady Carmichael imposed a 12-year sentence.
“Therefore he shouldn’t have the right to appeal. What about Gary’s rights?
“No sentence would be long enough for the loss, grief, pain he’s inflicted on everyone’s life who loved, knew and respected Gary.
“Life will never be the same without Gary’s presence, it’s left a huge void in our lives.”
