Junction may be widened
A JUNCTION improvement costing almost £250,000 is being lined up for one of A r b r o a t h ’s busiest bottlenecks.
Following a traffic survey of the Westway junction with the A92, Angus Council roads bosses have come up with a plan to widen approaches to the mini-roundabout and put new pedestrian crossings in place for people using the nearby retail park.
Councillors will have to decide whether to use almost all of the cashstrapped authority’s pot for a single scheme rather than competing priorities across the district.
A traffic assessment carried out by specialists predicted 50-vehicle queues at the j unction when new town housing is built.
Head of technical and proper ty ser vices Ian Cochrane said: “Results from the traffic modelling indicated that the junction is already under pressure during peak hours and the addition of committed development will further exacerbate this.”
