Bank holiday belter
The Met Office has said there is a good possibility of temperatures ranging from the high teens to the lower twenties for the city, ahead of bank holiday Monday.
However, the sun and balmy temperatures hang in the balance, subject to the cloud cover across Tayside each day.
Sophie Yeomans, a forecaster with the Met Office, said the picture for most of the country was rosy – but that eastern parts of Scotland would enjoy better conditions than elsewhere north of the border.
She said: “We’re expecting warm and summery conditions for many parts of the country. For much of Scotand, it’ll be a little bit colder with intervals of light rain.
“Over the course of the weekend, eastern Scotland is probably going to depending on the cloud, probably 15-16C but it could be more like 20-21C again. Monday will probably be a bit lower but it all depends on air flow. We’re looking at 13-14C if you get clear skies.
“Keep an eye on the forecast is the best thing to say at this point while things become more certain.”
Further south, temperatures in the high 20s are expected.
Chris Bulmer, deputy chief meteorologist at the Met Office, said: “We can’t promise wall to wall sunshine for everyone this Bank Holiday weekend, however, it’s looking like most of us will get to see some warm sunshine at times. Parts of Scotland and perhaps Northern Ireland will occasionally be cloudy with some rain, mainly in the west.”
Despite the sun coming out, locals have been advised to ensure they are protected from harmful UV rays.
Hayfever sufferers are advised that tree pollen levels are expected to rise over the course of the weekend.
DUNDEE could be basking in temperatures of more than 20C this bank holiday weekend as spring truly arrives in Tayside.
