Lana in among the goals

- BY JAMES MASSON

IT hasn’t taken former Letham Girls forward Lana Clelland long to hit the goal trail since recovering from four months out with an ankle injury which required surgery.

The Scotland international came on for the last 20 minutes for Tavagnacco at home to Chievo Verona in the Italian Women’s Serie A and netted twice in a 3-0 victory.

She followed her weekend double up with the leveller in the 1-1 away cup tie against Verona on Tuesday night and then netted in the penalty shootout which Tavagnacco won 3-2.

Lana, whose family home is in Tibbermore, near Perth, was last season’s top scorer in Serie A.

This season she has netted 13 times in the league and 10 times in the cup, making her the second top scorer in Serie A.

DUNDEE Dragons have again been hitting the goal trail.

Their 13s had a big home victory over Monifeith Girls 12s and another big success away to Montrose Youth Vics.

Their U/11s were not to be outdone. At home to St James Girls 11s they also won well.

Coach Samantha Lee Fyfe said: “Our hard work over the past year is now evident to see.

“We are now looking to progress the Dragons 11s to play some 13s teams.

“Our 13s will play a friendly against Letham 13s this weekend at Claypotts.

“This is to progress our girls as they attempt to be in the top half for the league split midway through the season.”
