Chance to improve biking skills

POLICE Scotland has launched a new training scheme aimed at reducing the number of collisions involving motorcycli­sts in and around Dundee and Angus.

The Rider Refinement North one-day course has been part-funded by Tr a n s p o r t S c o t l a n d ’s road safety framework fund.

It will be led by qualified police motorcycli­sts and take place on various dates during the summer months in Tayside, along with the North East and Highland areas.

The first two courses will be held in Forfar this weekend.

Saturday’s course is full but there are still limited spaces available on Sunday.

The cost is £30 per person, with a maximum number of 12 participan­ts each day.

The course is open to any qualified motorcycli­st, with priority being given to those living in Tayside.

Exhibitors and sponsors, including representa­tives from the Overgate who are official sponsors of the event, will gather at DC Thomson’s Meadowside HQ to celebrate the start of a week-long run of exciting fashion events.

The launch party is by invitation only, although there are a whole host of events local people can enjoy at venues around the city.

On Thursday, from 5pm for one night only, you can visit the Overgate’s Style Studio where profession­al stylists will be on hand to give you all the style advice you require.

Bloggers Helen & Kimberley of Wardrobe Conversati­ons will be on hand to help with any style queries.

Locals can browse “must have” items and take advantage of exclusive one-night offers in selected stores.

And, what’s better to accompany shopping than a cocktail on arrival at the free event?

At The McManus on Saturday, from 10am, join tailor David Alexander and up-and-coming dressmaker Karen Hamilton for free as they showcase a selection of beautifull­y hand-crafted fashion pieces.

Cult local brand Isolated Heroes will also be there exhibiting some of its garments, including items worn by Paloma Faith.

Isolated Heroes has grown to become one of the most contempora­ry brands in the UK with a celebrity fan base including Miley Cyrus, Pixie Lott and Kate Nash.
