other efforts has gone to t he Lighthouse and Ross, a team manager at Scottish and Southern Energy in Perth, will continue to raise money and awareness for the cause.

Before joining the other walkers on Saturday, some having come from Dundee and Aberdeen, he said: “David took his own life just two weeks before his 18th birthday.

“He was a quiet lad who liked music, David Bowie in particular. That’s why our mum Gwen’s Facebook page is entitled Starman.

“His death hit me hard, it was a massive shock.

“However, I’m not the only one. Others have been through the same.”

Lighthouse has now secured premises in central Perth which will soon be open.

It’s a place of sanctuary where folk who struggle in life will be able to go to talk and get help.

“It’s great the safe place is opening and I have volunteered to help. That and fundraising is the least I can do,” Ross said.

“I would urge those contemplating taking their own lives to open up, speak to people about their torment, go to get help and stay alive.”

The Lighthouse for Perth was founded by Tracy Swan, whose daughter Jodie took her own life in 2013, aged 22.
