WHEN it comes to relaxation, Laura Kennedy has it covered.

The 33-year-old beauty and massage therapist opened her own business, Evermore Beauty, in 2015 and is now based at The White House in Broughty Ferry.

Her massage journey started in 2009 when she enrolled in a three-year HND beauty therapy course at Dundee and Angus College.

Laura said: “Beauty and massage was always something I was into but doing it as a job wasn’t something I had thought about.

“My manager at the Odeon where I worked before gave me the push to go to college and pursue it as a career.

“I studied at the same time as working which was crazy at times but worth it.”

After sher graduated in 2012, Laura secured a job in a luxury spa.

She credits that job as giving her the training to provide a five-star experience for her clients.

She added: “I would definitely recommend that anyone wanting to get into the massage therapy industry should try to get a job in a luxury spa.

“They give you the skills to provide a top experience to your clients when it comes to being able to treat them in the best and most luxurious way.

“That experience is what helps you go from being an average therapist to an excellent one. It is very full-on but really improves your technique.”

During her training, Laura realised that she excelled in massage.

“I really enjoy the holistic side of massage therapy and the real help and relaxation if can give to a client,” she said.

“It is nice being able to make people feel good and seeing and hearing from clients how much I have helped them physically and mentally through my massages.

“Some people see treatments only as a luxury but massage and touch therapy can really help those suffering from anxiety and depression.

“I would really recommend anyone suffering from these issues to come and try a treatment.”

For anyone interested in a similar career path, Laura advised enrolling on the three-year course.

“I would definitely advise anyone to go and do the diploma,” she said.

“You learn so much more than with the quicker courses.

“Go and do what you are passionate about as you usually find that is what you are best at.

“I absolutely love my job and couldn’t imagine doing anything else.”
