‘Mercurial’ Ngwatala will excite at Dee

- BY GEORGE CRAN

‘On his day, he’s unplayable’ – that’s the exciting verdict of a man who has seen plenty of Dundee new boy Elton ngwatala.

Kidderminster Harriers media director Matty Paddock was sad to see the 24-year-old French attacking midfielder depart the National League North side and has warned fans at Dens Park to expect the unexpected.

Paddock said: “Elton is certainly a player who will catch the eye.

“You’d call him mercurial, I think. He’s certainly got talent and he was a step above this level. “On his day, he’s unplayable. “Elton has great feet and goes past people with ease and has technical ability.

“He doesn’t get as many goals as you would like but from the goal that was circulated on social media you can see he’s capable.

“He’s certainly not one for a tap-in!

“He is a great provider of goals, though, with his hard work getting past his marker.

“At times he lacks consistency week in, week out, though, but he’s still young and he’s now got a real opportunity to make a real career for himself.”

Ngwatala arrived at Aggborough two-and-a-half years ago, signing a deal after impressing on trial and has been something of a fans’ favourite.

He couldn’t prevent Kiddy dropping from the National League down to National League North at the end of his first season but played an “instrumental” role in their run to the first-round proper of the FA Cup and a second-placed finish in the league, only to lose out in the end-of-season play-offs.

This past campaign, they finished fourth but, once more, were beaten in the play-offs.

And that inability to gain promotion meant fans at the club accepted Ngwatala would move on.

“Elton will be missed, absolutely,” Paddock added.

“I think you could say the fans were resigned to the fact he’d be leaving after not getting promotion.
