Just the tickets! Pat, 78 celebrates Rita Ora win
RITA Ora fan Pat McDonald is used to seeing the Hot Right Now singer on TV.
But now the pensioner is celebrating after winning two tickets to see her right here in Dundee, thanks to a Tele competition.
Rita will be taking to the stage at Slessor Gardens on Saturday July 28. And Pat was one of five lucky fans who won two tickets to the show.
The 78-year-old retired social care officer lives with his partner Margaret Smith, 68, and says he just can’t wait.
On receiving the news, Pat, of Glenprosen Drive, said: “I feel brilliant and I’m really looking forward to going.
“I’ll be taking my partner Margaret with me.
“I saw Rita on The Voice and that’s when I discovered her. I love all her songs and I’m a fan of all great music.”
Last week, Rita – who has three UK number one singles under her belt and has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the music industry – revealed the line-up of special guests for her much-anticipated performance.
Her open-air concert is her only show on the east coast of Scotland this year, on top of just a handful of other UK dates.
Joining her in Dundee will be British drum and bass duo Sigma, singer and songwriter MNEK and new talent Hannah Jane Lewis.
Rita has also added acting and TV work to her CV, having played a role in Fifty Shades of Grey.
She will follow in the footsteps of acts including Olly Murs and UB40 when she plays at the Waterfront venue.
She comes to Dundee fresh from her own sold-out indoor tour and her performance at this year’s Brit Awards, performing a medley of her hits Your Song, Anywhere and For You. Sigma have sold more than five million singles and collaborated with international artists including Rita on the hit Coming Home, Take That, Paloma Faith and Labrinth. MNEK has amassed more than 200 million Spotify streams with his huge hit Never Forget You with Zara Larsson, while Hannah Jane Lewis attracted plaudits for her independently released electro influenced EP in 2016.
Pat and Margaret celebrate their win.
