Man, 40, ‘found with weapons’

A MAN has been re­manded in cus­tody af­ter al­legedly be­ing found in pos­ses­sion of a num­ber of of­fen­sive weapons.

Eric Cox, of Mar­ryat Ter­race, is also al­leged to have pos­sessed heroin in a pub­lic place.

The 40-year-old ap­peared in pri­vate be­fore Sher­iff Ge­orge Way at Dundee Sher­iff Court on a pe­ti­tion al­leg­ing that he pos­sessed di­amor­phine on Provost Road on Fri­day.

It is also al­leged that he pos­sessed an ar­ti­cle which had a blade or was sharply pointed, namely a box cut­ter, at Caird Park on Satur­day.

He is fur­ther al­leged to have be­haved in a threat­en­ing or abu­sive man­ner likely to cause fear or alarm, threat­ened vi­o­lence to­wards staff and caused them fear or alarm at Mor­risons su­per­mar­ket on the same date and pos­sessed a large lock knife at Caird Park on the same date.

Cox is fur­ther ac­cused of pos­sess­ing an of­fen­sive weapon, namely a multi tool with a blade, a small Swiss Army knife, a screw­driver, a brick and a small lock­ing knife at Caird Park on the same date.

He is also al­leged to have as­saulted an un­known mem­ber of the pub­lic by throw­ing a brick at them at the same lo­ca­tion on the same date.

All of the al­leged of­fences were said by prose­cu­tors to have been com­mit­ted while Cox was on three bail or­ders.

He made no plea and was re­manded in cus­tody while the case was con­tin­ued.
