I’ve caught the Love Island bug!

Evening Telegraph (First Edition) - - Uk World Today -

I’VE succumbed. Finally, tragically, I am entranced by ITV2 hit show Love Island.

It took a while to warm to the programme, which seems to have half the nation obsessed, but now I’m truly hooked.

Whereas before I thought it was a mindless catwalk parade for ridiculously perfect bodies with plumped lips and false bits (actually, this is still the case) there is a wit and intelligence that is utterly brilliant.

Not from the contestants, but the show producers, whose edits and show formats are unbeatable.

Add this to the inspired choice of Scottish presenter Iain Stirling (pictured) for voiceover and it’s as innovative as it is addictive.

I met Iain at a recent awards do and he was

naturally funny, taking to the stage all gangly arms, legs and pint glass to have the audience in stitches.

As for contestants there will be few lasting stars from Love Island, but Stirling is on the way to becoming a household name.
