Call for emer­gency vol­un­teers

PERTHSHIRE res­i­dents are be­ing en­cour­aged to sign up as emer­gency vol­un­teers for the British Red Cross this year.

The or­gan­i­sa­tion re­lies on re­serve teams in lo­cal in­ci­dents to help with ba­sic t asks i nclud­ing staffing shel­ters.

Perth and North Perthshire MP Pete Wishar t said: “When flood­ing oc­curred here pre­vi­ously, the com­mu­nity was quick to rally round. The British Red Cross have for­malised this with their scheme and I’d en­cour­age peo­ple to sign up.

“Peo­ple are only ever con­tacted i n an emer­gency lo­cal to them and are ex­pected to help with the most ba­sic of tasks, but these can re­ally help.”

PERTH and Kin­ross C o u n c i l ’s c o m m u n i t y alarm team has been hon­oured by the Tech­nol­ogy En­abled Care Ser­vices As­so­ci­a­tion for meet­ing its qual­ity stan­dards frame­work.
