Evening Telegraph (First Edition)
A welcome ray of sunshine
IT was our sad duty last week to report that thieves had targeted a charity for autistic children.
How nice then, just a few days later, to instead focus on the kind-hearted actions of people determined to spread a little happiness (see page 11).
Spectrum Dundee carries out much good work, and did nothing to deserve the damage caused last week.
Obviously we were not alone in our frustration, and locals have rallied round with offers of assistance.
From toys and other donations to warm words of help and encouragement, locals have clearly demonstrated that the bullies, vandals and mindless thieves will never win.
The charity is not well off – it is not soaking up government grants or spending with any kind of largesse.
Rather in keeping with so many local organisations, it is surviving thanks largely to the kindness of strangers.
Let there be no doubt – our communities are all the richer for it.
