Staff praised after raid

-

STAFF employed by a Perthshire butcher have been praised for the way they responded to a raid on the shop.

Thieves stole cash and a safe from James Ewart Ltd premises on Commercial Street, Alyth, overnight between December 27 and 28.

It’s thought they used a crowbar to take the front door off and damage the tills.

Shop owner Alan Kennedy said he didn’t want to reveal how much money had been stolen or how much cash had been stored in the safe.

However, he took time to praise his team.

“It was pretty miserable to have the disruption of this at such a busy time of year, when many people were depending on us, but the staff were fabulous, tidying up the damage and getting us up and running again,” he said.

“I’m really grateful to the staff who knuckled down and got us back in business.”
