Police plea for help in tracing prisoner
POLICE are appealing for help in the search for a missing prisoner.
Grant McNamara, a 26-year-old inmate at HMP Castle Huntly, near Longforgan, was reported missing to Police Scotland at 2pm yesterday.
Officers urged anyone who sees McNamara, who has connections to Paisley in Renfrewshire, to call police immediately and not to approach him if spotted.
In a statement released early today, the force gave a description of the inmate and anyone who assistance.
The statement said: “Police Scotland is appealing for information regarding the whereabouts of 26-year-old prisoner Grant McNamara.
“It is believed that he has connections in the Paisley area.
“He is described as being 6ft 2in, of medium build, clean shaven and with short brown hair.
“If seen, members of the public information for is able to offer should not approach him and should contact Police Scotland on 101 or 999.
“Anyone wishing to provide information anonymously can do so through the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
Details of how McNamara went missing and what he was serving his sentence for have not been released.
A police spokesman confirmed today that the search for McNamara was still ongoing.
