Ten-man ’Muir dig deep to book their final spot
FA I R M U I R U/ 16 booked thei r place i n t he fi na l of t he Queen’s Jubilee Cup with a 5-3 win over Carnoustie Panmure, despite play ing the majority of the match with 10 men.
Jamie McCann opened the scoring early on for Fairmuir but they were quickly pegged back as Lewis Sievwright converted a penalty for Carnoustie after Fairmuir had a man sent off.
Despite the numerical disadvantage, Graeme Stewart headed Fairmuir ahead for a second time, only for Connor McFarlane to draw Carnoustie level once more before half-time.
In the second half, quickfire goals from Nick Fletcher and a second of the day for McCann put Fairmuir in control before Zain Ferguson fired in a fifth for the hosts.
Sievwright doubled his tally late on but it wasn’t enough to stop Fairmuir progressing to the final, where they will meet Pitfour, who saw off Monifieth Athletic in the other semi-final thanks to a Charlie Edward goal.
Fairmuir U/14 advanced to the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup after beating Dunbeth FC 5-0. Stuart Heenan scored all five of Fairmuir’s goals.
Ten-man Ferry Athletic U/14 beat Montrose Youth 3-2 to advance to the final of the Dundee West Anniversary Cup.
Goalkeeper Finlay Lyttle saw red but strikes from Will Hanbury, Aidan Lockhart and Liam Cargill saw Ferry through.
Ferry Athletic edged a nine-goal thriller against Dundee West in their U/15 G Taylor League clash.
A Campbell Stevenson double was added to by Charlie Massie, Owen Boath and Harrison Taylor as Ferry ran out 5-4 winners.
Dryburgh Athletic and Arbroath Lads will contest the U/13 Marshall Cup Final after overcoming Fairmuir and Riverside respectively in their semi-finals.
