Callachan hopes late Saints lapses don’t become harmful habit

-

ST JOHNSTONE have seen three points evaporate into one in their last two games, St Mirren and Livingston striking late with wonder goals to level things up at 1-1.

Now, with Saturday’s home match against Motherwell on the horizon, midfield man Ross Callachan is trusting the same won’t happen again.

He said: “It looked like we had two wins then two great strikes take the wins away from us.

“However, we are still seventh and a win over Motherwell will ensure that is where we finish.

“We want to end strongly with six points from Motherwell and then Hamilton away.”

Callachan added that coming to Saints has given him “a new lease of life”.

He went on: “I’m already looking forward to next season as I enjoy it so much here.

“I came in from Hearts and the change has done me good. My team-mates are great and this has definitely been the right move for me.

“I’ve proved some people wrong with my displays for Saints.

“I felt I did all right against Livingston and hope my form continues against Motherwell and Hamilton.

“Then it’s on to next season.”

One player who won’t be lining up for Saints any more is Sean Goss.

The former Rangers player was brought in on loan from QPR but hasn’t featured since the end of March. He has now returned to Loftus Road.

Meanwhile, at half-time on Saturday, Saints will remember players and fans who have passed away in the last year when club chaplain the Reverend David Barrie will read out their names over the public address system. Their names will also be in the match programme.
