KITMART Dundee Stars head coach Omar Pacha has hailed the efforts of his new squad during their pre-season training camp, saying some players have already exceeded his expectations.

The Canadian coach is pleased with the work ethic and skills displayed by his players on only day three of their pre-season camp but he is remaining reserved as he has yet to see his team in a competitive match.

Pacha said: “There has been a really good pace in practice, I thought everybody has skated well. The first three practices have impressed me.

“I like how the defence are skating, I like how we have a bit more speed up front. And it looks like we are going to be a bit more creative offensively than in the past.

“I have seen some nice plays but, for now, I am just trying to get the systems right and getting the legs going and ready for the season.

“I just want to see where we are with our systems and, obviously, nothing will be perfect or set in stone.”

The Stars boss, whose side face Odense Bulldogs in a pre-season double header at DIA this weekend, remains unconvinced until he has seen his side play a competitive match.

He added: “I need to see how they react and play with each other and how we learn a system. However, most importantly, I want to see guys in game-type scenarios, one-on-one against an opponent. You don’t want to get too high but first impressions were really good.”

Last night, Stars fans met Pacha and the players at their annual ‘Meet the Players’ event.
