Even peas in the rice couldn’t put me off

-

HEARING there was a new Mediterranean restaurant that also did takeaway, I had to go check it out.

Tucked away up Erskine Lane, it’s a place worth seeking out.

I ordered online, which gave me a 10% discount.

We ordered a mixed grill for one (£14.95) and, being lovers of the meat, a lamb shish kebab (£13.95).

Not cheap, but each is served on a bed of rice with fresh homemade bread, garlic roast potatoes, roasted onions and peppers and separate salad and sauce.

The mixed grill consisted of one skewer of chicken kofte, one skewer of chicken shish kebab, two meaty chicken wings, two peri chicken and a lamb chop.

It was served in a large square foil ashet and easily enough for two, though I was also glad to have the extra lamb dish.

This is more because I’m greedy and it was delicious than because I needed it. It was served in a smaller ashet but with the same base of rice, etc.

The bread pieces, quite soft and doughy, were in a separate dish and we had two chilli sauces (with a kick!) and two creamy garlic sauces and two fresh salad boxes.

Slight downside for me is there are peas through the rice, but I coped.

And a surprising highlight was the chicken kofte. Very tasty.

The potatoes were more wedges than traditionally shaped roasters, but everything was good.

The meat and veg is cooked on a mangal grill giving it the charcoaled, dark bits that I love.

We had a bit of a wait on the drive home so some of our food, though foil wrapped, had cooled, but it was still enjoyed.
