Lucky for some – it’s 13 without loss for rampant Craigie

-

EAST Craigie extended their unbeaten run to 13 matches with an 8-1 victory over visiting Coupar Angus.

The win sets the Shipbuilders up for this week’s top-of-the-table Premier League clash at Blairgowrie

The win was just as easy as the scoreline suggests with the Shipbuilders going in at the interval 6-0 ahead.

George Johnston bagged four of the goals and Ben Garrick netted a double. Rory Faulkner and Paul Moran also found the back of the Coupar net.

Coupar’s crumb of comfort was a Stefan Brown counter.

Lochee Harp picked up three welcome points with a 3-1 win over Brechin Vics.

Michael Gormley’s side were quick out of the blocks with two goals in the first 15 minutes from Michael McBrearty and Brian Harris.

Although Liam Scott pulled one back, Harp scored again through Jay Smart to seal the points.

Arbroath Vics recorded an excellent 3-0 win over visitors Violet.

After a goalless first half in which the Pansies were reduced to 10 men after James Connolly’s sendingoff, Vics were dominant after the break.

Matty Reynolds and a Mike Fotheringham double delivered the three points.

Goals from Cammy McManus, after two minutes, and Gary Axworthy three minutes later were the foundation of leaders Blairgowrie’s 5-0 win at Forfar Albion.

Axworthy struck twice early in the second half to complete his hat-trick just before the hour mark.

Ben Middleton added the fifth with 10 minutes left. Newburgh posted their first win in five outings to stay second in the South Premier League but made hard work of beating visitors Syngenta by the odd goal in five.

Two up at the interval through goals from Ben Scarborough, after 18 minutes, and Aidan Edwards just before the break, they seemed set for victory.

The visitors, having pulled one back on 56 minutes, levelled 10 minutes from time. However, Kyle Fraser came up trumps with the winner three minutes later.

RESULT of the week – DOWNFIELD’S terrific 2-1 win over Lochee United.
