Tangerines centre-half Paul hoping to stay at Tannadice

-

“We’re on a great run and we just want to continue that.

“We’ve got a squad that, whoever comes in, they’re stepping up to the plate and they can perform.”

Part of the Tangerines’ recent success has been a spread of goals throughout the team.

And Watson, who is yet to notch a league goal this season after scoring four last term, is keen to get in on the act.

“Everyone’s been chipping in with goals. Sam Stanton has been brilliant recently, Ian Harkes as well so it’s great to see.

“We need to start chipping in with a few at the back now. At set-pieces I tend to go to the front and Nicky Clark delivers them to the back – I think he’s doing it on purpose.

“There’s a real togetherness among the boys. We all want each other to do well but the main objective is, obviously, to get the club back in the Premiership.

“I think since the new owners came in, all the changes that have been made have been positive.

“The club’s going in the right direction, that’s showing on the pitch as well and, hopefully, we can just maintain the wins and get the club back there.”

With his deal up at the end of the season, Watson is hoping to see his contract extended.

He continued: “There’s healthy competition here but, with a couple of injuries, I was able to get in at centre-back.

“My deal’s up at the end of the season but I’ll just have to speak to the manager and see what he says.

“I love it here, it’s a great club and I’d love to stay, so we’ll just see what happens.”
