No games but plenty movement in juniors

- BY JUNICUS

A START date may still be some time away but local junior sides are keeping their fingers crossed that they may at least get the green light to restart training in the near future.

Despite the uncertainty, club managers remain optimistic and are busily fixing up squads so they are ready as and when they get the go-ahead.

One manager who has been busier than most is North End’s Tony McAulay.

The Dokens boss has extended the contracts of goalkeepers Neal Ferrie and

Mark Stewart and has also signed Callum Petrie, Jordan Timmons and Ross Jamieson.

He is also in the process of finalising a deal to take Kieran Sturruck from Carnoustie. Gary Archibald has left the club.

Lochee United have signed George Johnston, a prolific scorer with East Craigie last season

Bluebells defender Ross McDonald has joined Broughty Athletic while James Thomson has been released. Ryan Blair and Alan Tulleth have been made available for transfer while last season’s skipper Dougie Cameron has decided to hang up his boots.

With Ryan Suttie heading for Carnoustie, Greg Whyte will be the new captain of Tayport next season and the club have extended the contracts of Kris Rollo, Craig Sturrock along with the young trio of Luke O’Brien, Kyle Middleton and Greg Breen.

Manager Chris McPherson has entered the transfer market and secured the signatures of goalkeeper Gary Thain from

Forfar WE and Bradie Heggie from Luncarty.

Broughty Athletic will have John Roberts back for the new season and have also fixed up defender Ross McDonald from Lochee United.

East Craigie managers Craig Brown and Sean Wilkie have snapped up Aaron Conway.

Harp will be heading for their new ground when the season eventually gets under way and manager Michael Gormley has signed goalkeeper Ryan Mitchell and brought in Jackson Dobbie from Riverside U/19.
