Robbery, crowbar assault bid denied
A WOMAN has appeared in court accused of trying to attack a man with a crowbar before robbing him of £20.
Paula Shanks, of Craigowan Road, allegedly robbed Clark Smith at an address on the street on September 15.
The 42-year-old is accused of brandishing a crowbar at Mr Smith, trying to hit him on the body with the weapon and robbing him of £20.
Shanks allegedly breached an antisocial behaviour order, granted in April this year, by shouting, swearing and acting in a manner that would cause fear, alarm or distress to residents of the Charleston area.
She is additionally accused of assaulting PC Natalia Iwanow by kicking her on the body.
Shanks appeared from custody at Dundee Sheriff Court on petition where she made no plea in connection with the allegations.
Sheriff Jillian Martin-Brown continued the case for further examination and released Shanks on bail.
AS Dundee’s jute industry ground to a halt, Taybank Works stood alone as the last vestige of the once globally-renowned industry.
But now demolition work has begun at the mill, on Morgan Street, Stobswell, and the site is being re-purposed to provide affordable homes.
Work on the Caledonia Housing Association project to create 37 houses was halted during lockdown but has now restarted.
The development will also consist of one and two-bedroom flats, six of which are earmarked for supported living accommodation.
There will also be a number of bungalows, of varying sizes, which are adapted for wheelchair users.

A TRIAL has been set for a woman accused of using a bank card to steal almost £500.
Natasha Duxbury, of Fintryside, denies committing the offence at Hayats Supersave, Happyhillock Road, between May 24-26 this year.
It is alleged that the 26-year-old used the card and personal identification number to steal £473.50.
Duxbury pleaded not guilty to the charge at Dundee Sheriff Court and had her trial set for March by Sheriff Alastair Carmichael.
