Scam fear as money lost
Second alleged incident at Lochee cash machine
A DUNDEE woman is warning others to be wary after being “scammed” out of £200 at a cash machine.
Rona Ross is the second person to report losing money from the ATM outside the TSB in Lochee.
Mrs Ross said: “I went to take out money from the TSB and when I put my pin password in, it wouldn’t accept it.
“I thought I must have got it wrong and tried again, but I was told it was wrong again and then again a third time.
“I thought I better just go so I left the ATM.
“But then I got a statement at the end of the month and it said £200 had been taken out.
“I went into the bank because there must have been a mistake.”
The Tele reported earlier this week that comedian June Brown had a similar issue at the same ATM in Lochee.
She had become flustered at the machine and had cancelled her transaction – but when she went into the bank branch to take the money out, she was told £100 had left her account.
Mrs Ross continued: “I’m now wondering if there has been a scam and if I need to go to the police about it.
“This has happened twice at the same machine in such a short space of time, there must be something going on because this has never, ever happened to me before.
“Normally when you put a wrong number in you can’t get any money out and it shouldn’t go any further than that.
“But I didn’t get any money and I don’t feel this has been addressed well enough, particularly when it’s also happened to someone else.
“It says £200 has gone but I didn’t get any money.”
A spokesman for TSB said: “Mrs Ross contacted TSB to dispute a card transaction at our ATM in Lochee.
“We have been in touch with her to confirm the matter is being investigated and we hope to get it resolved quickly.”
