-

A TRIAL has been fixed for a man accused of verbally abusing cops after failing to provide blood samples.

Robert Laidlaw, of Lansdowne Court, allegedly failed to provide samples in order to ascertain his ability to drive a car on the A90 Dundee to Aberdeen road, near Moatmill, on Thursday.

Laidlaw is also charged with behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at police headquarters on West Bell Street.

It is alleged he shouted and swore while adopting an aggressive attitude.

The 53-year-old pleaded not guilty when he appeared from custody at Dundee Sheriff Court.

Sheriff John Rafferty fixed a trial for August before releasing Laidlaw on bail.

A 35-YEAR-old driver accused of crashing into two other cars will stand trial next year.

Kenneth Paton is also alleged to have made violent threats during phone calls to a woman and her partner

He is charged with failing to report an accident after crashing into a vehicle on Mayfield Terrace, Arbroath, on May 26.

Paton, of Glenisla Drive, allegedly caused the collision by driving carelessly.

Prosecutors allege Paton collided with a second car, which was parked and unattended, on the same date on the town’s Demondale Road.

It is alleged he was driving with cannabis in his system.

Paton also allegedly made threatening phone calls to a woman and her partner on Waverley Terrace on December 29.

Paton pleaded not guilty to all charges when he appeared from custody at Dundee Sheriff Court.

Before being released on bail, Paton had a trial fixed for June at Forfar Sheriff Court.
