Evening Telegraph (First Edition)
Letter from the editor
THERE can be no doubt 2020 was a year unlike any other.
Living through such a period will, in time, make us extraordinary creatures – witness to one of the most remarkable times the world has ever seen.
And as new year begins I would like to take this opportunity to pause and thank every single Evening Telegraph reader who has stood with us throughout this most bewildering of periods. Every day throughout the pandemic, we have worked to bring you a newspaper you can be proud of. And every day you have shown us remarkable loyalty. We would never seek to take that for granted and are hugely grateful to each and every one of you.
Continuing to support local journalism throughout this time has enabled us to shine a light not only on the misery caused by this pandemic but also on the incredible resilience and support shown by local communities to help those less fortunate through their difficulties.
In 2020 we saw not only the terrible ravages of a global pandemic but also the remarkable strength of society.
It was our pleasure to report on the efforts of local groups and individuals who pulled out all the stops to make life bearable – even as it changed in unimaginable ways.
Our Champions Awards did much to shine a light on the fantastic communities we are proud to serve in Dundee and the surrounding area.
And now, with 2021 in its infancy, I want to once again thank you for your continued support.
We are not out of the woods yet but there is hope on the horizon and a dream of better times ahead.
The Tele will always be proud to support local communities and we hope we’ve spread some joy with promotions and fun competitions over the last year. We will continue to do so in 2021.
Your support is hugely appreciated – and we are more determined than ever to return the favour.
