Two men in court on drugs charges

-

TWO men have been accused of dealing cocaine and cannabis.

Umar Kamran, 19, and 21-year-old Duncan Scott were allegedly concerned in the supply of the drugs between October 30-31 last year.

Both men were allegedly involved in dealing the Class A drug cocaine at Hilltown West car park on October 30.

It is alleged that Kamran, of Hoylake Place, and Scott, of Dollerie Terrace, Crieff, were concerned in the supply of cannabis, a Class B drug, at the same location on the same date.

Scott faces a separate allegation of being concerned in the supply of cannabis on Perth Road on October 31.

Neither accused made any plea when they appeared on petition at Dundee Sheriff Court in connection with the allegations.

They were released on bail after their case was continued for further examination by Sheriff Lorna Drummond QC.

Police Scotland said two men aged 21 and 25 have been arrested and charged with attempted murder.

They are due to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court tomorrow.

Chief Inspector Ross Fitzgerald, of Tayside Police Division, said: “I would like to thank the members of the public who came forward and provided vital information towards the investigation.”

SCHOOLS are in a much better position to deal with home learning during this lockdown than they were previously, union leaders have claimed.

As the majority of pupils in Scotland prepare to be taught at home until at least February, teaching unions have voiced confidence that lessons learned from the first lockdown will mean pupils will notice an improvement this time.

Greg Dempster, general secretary of the Association of Headteachers and Deputes in Scotland (AHDS) union, is one of those who is confident the correct provisions are in place.

He said: “Schools are in a much better position than they were in March because they have the experience of dealing with remote learning and have also had time to think about how they could improve what they were doing.

“I think pupils and families will experience a different level of engagement than they had previously so hopefully people will see an improvement on before.”

Before the start of the school year in August, preparations had been underway for pupils to be taught via blended learning.

Although these were eventually put on hold as pupils returned
