AN award-winning Dundee design studio has appointed a new communications director.

The Malting House design and marketing company, which has studios in Dundee and Perth, has started its 18th year by welcoming a new team member on board.

Ramanee Bengough brings a highly technical communications background to her new role as communications director and has a wealth of experience to share from her career of more than 25 years at the University of Dundee.

Her background also includes 12 years as a computing academic, teaching computer programming, web development and usercentred design.

This has led to a keen interest in accessibility, and making sure that information is equally available to all.

Ramanee said: “I love helping people communicate with their audience as efficiently and effectively as possible.

“From running corporate social media accounts to writing messages for all types of stakeholders, I’ve always thought about the individual who is reading what I’ve written.

“Having taught user-centred design to computing students earlier in my career, I’m excited to be working with designers who share this approach.

“It’s a challenging time for all businesses and The Malting House is helping local clients and those further afield to take advantage of new ways of working, to grow and reach new audiences.”

The Malting House founder Wendy Maltman said: “Ramanee’s background in social media, communications and higher education complements our existing in-house design and marketing expertise.

“She brings technical expertise to the team which allows us to expand our comprehensive suite of services to include social media strategy, support and training.

“I am excited to see our team growing as we celebrate our 18th birthday as a business.”

For the past 18 years the team at The Malting House has been overseeing the marketing and communication strategies for a number of businesses.

The studio’s services include logo and brand design, assisting with marketing strategies and developing PR requirements, support with events and ensuring customers’ websites are mobile optimised.
