Accused of threats in street
A 22-YEAR-OLD man accused of standing in the middle of a street and shouting threats of “extreme violence” has been remanded in custody.
Uwais Hussein is also alleged to have repeatedly threatened people who reported him to the police during the incident on Roseberry Street on January 8.
Hussein pleaded not guilty when he faced Dundee Sheriff Court from custody in connection with the allegations.
He denies conducting himself in a disorderly manner by walking and standing on the roadway, shouting towards the sky, making threats of extreme violence and making a threatening gesture.
In a police vehicle, Hussein, of Pitfour Street, allegedly threatened a person repeatedly then threatened the people who reported him to the police.
Sheriff John Rafferty fixed a trial for February and remanded Hussein in custody ahead of a pretrial hearing next month.
A MAN has admitted stealing alcohol and beauty products from a city supermarket.
Sentence was deferred on John Sands Hodge, 51, after he pleaded guilty to shoplifting from Home Bargains, Milton of Craigie, on Tuesday.
Dundee Sheriff Court heard how Hodge had taken illicit Valium offered to him by an acquaintance prior to the incident.
Hodge, of Aboyne Avenue, admitted stealing alcohol, food and beauty products from the shop.
Defence solicitor Ross Bennett said Hodge felt he had “let himself down” by committing the offence.
Sheriff George Way deferred sentence on Hodge until next month for the case to call alongside other matters and released Hodge on bail.
