Glassed man in city pub

-

A MAN has been convicted of endangering the life of another man after glassing him in a city pub.

Ryan Cavanagh, of Clifden Blue Court, was found guilty by a jury at Dundee Sheriff Court of attacking Douglas Black in The Copper Still, Bell Street, on November 18 2018.

Cavanagh is the first man to have been found guilty under the remote jury system at the court.

Jurors found the 31-year-old guilty by majority verdict of striking Mr Black on the face with a glass and repeatedly punching him on the head, causing him to suffer severe injury, permanent disfigurement, permanent impairment and endangering his life.

Following the guilty verdict, Sheriff Tom Hughes deferred sentence on Cavanagh until April for social work reports to be prepared.

His bail order was allowed to continue.

THREE people have appeared in court accused of dealing drugs from a city flat.

Tracy Mudie, 42, 25-year-old Lee Patterson and Kaisha Bates, 30, were allegedly concerned in the supply of Class A drugs on Atholl Street on February 19.

All three made no plea when they appeared on petition from custody at Dundee Sheriff Court.

Prosecutors allege that Mudie, of Kirk Street, Patterson, of Glenview Avenue in Bonnybridge, and Bates, of Charleston Drive, were involved in dealing cocaine.

A second charge alleges the trio were concerned in the supply of heroin.

Sheriff Alastair Carmichael continued the case against them for further examination.

Mudie and Patterson were released on bail while Bates was remanded in custody meantime.
