Highlighting a crucial issue

FOR years the issue of racism in sport has caused consternation.

The vast majority of fans are, of course, horrified by any such abuse yet it remains a stubborn stain on society.

Much has been done to tackle the associated problems and great strides have undoubtedly been made, but nobody could deny they persist – and now a determined Dundee United fan is taking matters into his own hands.

Anish Tewari has set up an online platform to raise awareness of racism in football and indeed wider society (see pages 28 & 29).

On the back of several high-profile cases – and with his own previous experiences in mind – Anish believes the time is right to make a stand.

He is off to a good start and is already getting plenty of positive attention.

Few can argue with Anish’s aims and ambitions – here’s hoping he continues to make headway in the weeks and months to come, and certainly by the time fans get back into stadiums.
