- BY CIARAN SHANKS

A MAN has appeared in court accused of raping and sexually abusing children at addresses in Dundee.

William Ramsay, 68, allegedly forced children to fight, locked them in cupboards and forced them to eat vomit.

The offences were allegedly committed at multiple addresses in the city between 1976 and 1992.

Ramsay, of Albert Street, made no plea in connection with the allegations when he appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court on petition.

A warrant was issued for the arrest of a 64-year-old woman in connection with other allegations on the same petition.

The woman allegedly attacked two children, one of which is now deceased, by repeatedly striking them on the body with a belt between April 1976 and July 1985.

Ramsay allegedly threatened to kill the children during the same time period as well as punching and kicking them, placing his arms around their neck and causing them to lose consciousness.

Between the same period, Ramsay allegedly cruelly or unnaturally treated one of the children by rationing their food, forcing them to engage in fights with other children for food and locking them in a cupboard.

He is accused of behaving in a similar manner towards the second child between April 1976 and December 1990.

It is alleged that Ramsay woke the child at night repeatedly, forced them to stand naked while holding wet towels and force fed them food before force feeding them vomit.

Prosecutors allege that between December 1979 and December 1980, Ramsay sexually abused one of the children.

Ramsay and the woman allegedly punched, kicked and struck one of the children repeatedly with a belt between July 19 and July 20 1985.

A final charge alleges that between September 1985 and December 1992, Ramsay attacked a third child by squeezing their neck and causing them to lose consciousness before raping them.

Sheriff George Way continued Ramsay’s case for further examination and released him on bail.
