Outpouring of praise for dad Adam

- BY LINDSEY HAMILTON

TRIBUTES continue to pour in for Auchterhouse dad-of-five Adam Watts who was killed in a dog attack at the kennels at his home.

Among those is a glowing tribute from Marc Lorente, chairman of Monifieth Athletic.

Adam sponsored one of the teams and two of his sons have played for the club.

Marc said: “It is with great sadness that we learn of the tragic passing of Adam Watts, 55, who owns Juniper Kennels and sponsored the 05s team.

“He was an outstanding individual and an absolute superdad who any other father was inspired by.

“Despite running a business and being left widowed in February 2013 after his wife Eileen passed away with cancer aged 46, he committed himself to caring for his five boys who were aged two to 12 years at the time.”

Marc added: “It was not unusual for Adam to drive up to 200 miles a day catering for his boys, taking them to clubs and friends all over the Tayside area and his typical Sunday night was staying up until 1am to iron 25 school shirts.

“The boys are an absolute testament to him with one previously playing for the club and another still here.”

Marc continued: “It was an absolute pleasure to have called him a personal friend and it’s fair to say that after spending the last couple of days with his sons and family, who have travelled up to be with them.

“We as a club and community, as well as the many friends he and the boys have, will do everything we can to support his amazing boys now and in the future.

“It goes without saying they are all in our thoughts.”

Meantime a fundraiser for Adam’s family, has now raised more than £42,000 since it was set up two days ago.

An initial target of £5,000 had been set but £42,270 has now been donated to Adam’s loved ones. More than 1,400 people have donated to the fund, which is likely to continue rising into next week.

Residents of Auchterhouse were left shell-shocked by the death of the 55-yearold on Wednesday afternoon.
