Lewis Allan and Scott Young hope to secure a venue for the facility, as they say demand is growing among the skating community.

The city’s last indoor skatepark, The Factory, closed in 2019 after 20 years – and other skating spots, like a makeshift site near the Seagate bus station and the skatepark at Dudhope, are all outdoors.

A DRUNKEN thug threatened to kill his workmate with a Stanley knife before driving his car into a field.

Christopher Purvis, 25, flew into a rage during a fraught night out with colleagues at the Airlie Street Bar in Alyth.

He sank seven pints of lager before being thrown out of the pub for challenging friends to a fight.

Purvis pulled out a knife and threatened to cut one of his workmate’s throats.

He then got into his Volkswagen Scirocco and drove off but only made it to the edge of town before veering off the road. He abandoned it in a field, sparking a police search.

The apprentice stonemason, of Linefield Road, Carnoustie, appeared at Perth Sheriff Court and admitted driving in Alyth on August 17 2020 while nearly three times the legal limit.

He admitted acting in a threatening or abusive behaviour and having a bladed weapon in a public place.

Sheriff Gillian Wade told him:

“It is clear that your offending is escalating.

“You have a very cavalier attitude to driving and driving is a privilege, not a right. It is a right you will not have for some considerable time.”

Purvis was disqualified for 27 months and ordered to carry out 270 hours of unpaid work. He was also subjected to a curfew order for five months.

Fiscal depute Bill Kermode said Purvis arrived at the pub with friends and workmates at about 5.40pm.

He had driven them there and drank around seven pints of lager by 11pm. The court heard he spent the night chatting with a woman at the bar.

He became aggressive when his friends said they did not want him to take her back to one of their houses.

Purvis began asking them to fight and was asked to leave.

He continued arguing with a colleague in the street and produced a Stanley knife: “He threatened that he would slash him, cut his throat and kill him.

“The pub manager saw the accused with the knife down by his side.

“He ushered the colleague back inside. The accused was enraged and walked away from the pub.”

Purvis’s solicitor said his client has ADHD and was on antidepressant medication. “The amount of alcohol he consumed that night was outrageous given the medication he was on,” he said.
