Toughen up on parole breach

-

FIRST Minister’s Questions returned to Holyrood last Thursday and yet again it turned out to be quite a fiery encounter – with Nicola Sturgeon in the line of fire.

My interest in justice matters has been well documented by numerous Tele letters in the past and, in this particular session of FMQs, Conservative Russell Findlay cited 25 instances where convicted murderers had breached their parole conditions.

Their punishment was to be issued with warning letters rather than returned behind bars. How absurd is this considering murder is considered to be the most serious crime of all.

Ms Sturgeon’s response to this, and I quote: “I think it right that we have a robust system of parole”.

Wrong again, Ms Sturgeon. I think we should have a robust legal system to deal with criminals and not molly-coddle them the way you and your inept government do.

When did you last do anything constructive for the hundreds of relatives and friends of the victims of these killers, who look for justice?

This is an area which your inept government seem to have completely forgotten about.
