DUNDEE Stars have a date with destiny this weekend, as they seek to end 17 years of hurt and win the Elite League Play-off Finals in Nottingham.

Standing in their way are the Belfast Giants, who have already won the Championship and Challenge Cup this season, with either the Guildford Flames or the Cardiff Devils waiting for the victors in Sunday’s final.

It’s a tall order, but the dozens of Stars supporters who have made the 350-mile trip from the City of Discovery to the Motorpoint Arena are confident Omar Pacha’s men can cause an upset and ultimately triumph.

Should they go all the way, it would cap a remarkable sporting story. Dundee has one of the lowest budgets in the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL).

Whatever the result, they have already done the city proud. Let’s hope they can can deliver the fairytale ending we all want to see.
